Citadel Class of 2015 graduate James Daniell receives The Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Award

The Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Award is presented to the graduating senior in the school of humanities and social sciences who best represents the commitment to academic excellence, the breadth of intellectual interests, and the dedication to public service exemplified by the life and career of Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Citadel Class of 1964; state legislator from 1968 through 1974; and Mayor of Charleston from 1975 to present. The criteria is based on cumulative grade point ratio and successful completion of either a minor or second major within the school of humanities and social sciences, a study abroad, or a significant service learning project.

This year, the award was presented to James Daniell of Greer, South Carolina, at the awards convocation in McAlister Field House. The ceremony was sponsored by Jim Whetstone, Class of 1960, and his wife, Lila. Daniell graduated on May 9th with a BA in Psychology, Minoring in Political Science International and Military Affairs.
