Citadel Class of 2016 Cadet Andrew McMahan receives The Captain Ryan Hall Leadership Sword

2015 May 18

In 2012 Captain Ryan Hall, Class of 2004, was killed while in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His U-28A aircraft crashed in the East African nation of Djibouti. Created by his classmates, this award is presented annually to the rising senior Air Force contract cadet who has excelled in academics and leadership and must exemplify the values and attributes of Captain Hall: integrity, loyalty, strength of character, honor, dedication, leadership, and service before self.

The sword was presented this year to Cadet Andrew McMahan, of Knoxville, Tennessee, at the awards convocation in McAlister Field House, sponsored by Jim Whetstone, Class of 1960, and his wife, Lila. McMahan will carry the sword throughout his senior year before it is passed on to the next year's award selectee.

McMahan is pursuing a BSBA in Business Administration.
