Citadel Class of 2016 Cadet James Urban receives The John Paul Jones Award

2015 May 19

The John Paul Jones Award is sponsored by the Charleston Commandery Naval Order of the United States. It recognizes a Navy ROTC midshipman second class who has demonstrated leadership excellence and military bearing personifying the high ideals and principles which motivated and sustained our naval forefathers. The Citadel professor of naval science selects the recipient of the sword.

This year, the award was presented to Cadet James Urban, of Randolph, NJ, at the awards convocation in McAlister Field House. The ceremony was sponsored by Jim Whetstone, Class of 1960, and his wife, Lila.

Urban is pursuing a B.A. in Criminal Justice and will serve as the regimental commander--the highest position available to cadets--during his senior year.
