Citadel Class of 2016 graduate Austin Lee named David Shingler Spell Second Honor Graduate

The David Shingler Spell Second Honor Graduate Award is presented to the cadet graduate who has earned the second highest cumulative grade point ratio based on all courses taken at The Citadel. Cadet Austin Lee earned the prestigious award, which was presented by Col. Gene Pinson, a member of The Citadel Board of Visitors.

Lee, graduating with a degree in business, commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army the day before commencement ceremonies. In addition to serving as a First Battalion Honor Representative, Lee has achieved Gold Star honors by maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average for all four years at The Citadel.

Lee is from Rock Hill, South Carolina. He received a plaque and a stipend to be used for educational expenses at the graduate level or at the discretion of the recipient.
