Cadet Matthew Livingston has secured a summer internship with Blue Chair Bay Rum. His internship will be in marketing and sales. Livingston is a junior majoring in business administration through the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.

Citadel Cadet Ryan Stamler received a full-time employment offer from Stryker Orthopaedics. After graduating from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Business Adminstration this May, Stamler will begin working in the company's Atlanta location.

Citadel Cadet Donovan Pflieger has secured a summer internship with Clark Associates. Pflieger is a junior majoring in business administration through the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.

Citadel Cadet William Rasberry has secured a summer internship with Handsome Properties in Charleston. Rasberry is a junior in business administration through the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.

Recipients for The Citadel's Star of the West scholarship have been named for summer 2018. The scholarship grants up to $7,500 to cadets, undergraduate veteran students and evening undergraduate students for the opportunity to study abroad, expand second language skills and experience foreign travel.

Nine cadets in The Citadel Cyber Defense Team competed in the Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition on April 15. The team placed fourth out of eight.

Citadel cadets, faculty and partners are being recognized for their commitment to service learning and civic engagement by South Carolina Campus Compact (SCCC). SCCC is a coalition of 17 South Carolina colleges and universities that collaborate to promote and develop the civic purposes of higher education. As a SCCC member, The Citadel annually nominates candidates for the South Carolina Civic Engagement Leadership Awards. All nominees were honored, and some won statewide awards, during the 2018 Civic Engagement Leadership Summit on Friday, April 13. The nominees were recognized on campus during an awards ceremony on Friday, April 20.

Citadel cadets and students learned about leadership and teamwork while studying, living aboard and helping crew Charleston's iconic Spirit of South Carolina schooner during the college's first Citadel at Sea program. The semester program on the Spirit began Jan. 18 and concluded on April 18, when the ship returned to the Charleston Maritime Center. During the trip, students sailed to the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Citadel professors met the ship at the ports-of-call to provide tours and instruction, as well as to lead the students on service-learning experiences.

Five teams presented as finalists in the fourth annual Bulldog Business Bowl competition. After a day of presentating final business plans, Hybrid Drone (HD) Flight Technologies took home first place and $10,000 to start their business. The Bulldog Business Bowl, hosted by the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business, is a competition aimed at budding Citadel entrepreneurs who have an idea for a new product or service and the desire to turn that idea into a business.

Three Citadel cadets attended the Free Enterprise Forum April 9-10 at the College of the Ozarks. The two-day forum included sessions with guest speakers Dr. Burt Folsom, professor of history and management at Hillsdale College; Mary Propes-Reynolds, chairwoman of VDV Group, LLC, a family business; and Toby Rush, CEO of ZOLOZ, a digital identity solutions company. The keynote speaker of the event was Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media. After each guest speaker, students participated in break-out sessions that facilitated in-depth discussion. In addition to The Citadel representatives from Evangel University, Georgia Military College, Marion Military Institute, Marine Military Academy, New Mexico Military Institute, Southwest Baptist University, U.S. Naval Academy, Virginia Military Institute and Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets also attended the forum.

The Citadel Baker School of Business held its annual induction ceremony for new members of Beta Gamma Sigma, the exclusive international business honor society, on April 12.

Citadel track and field cadet-athlete Madyson Riegel was named the recipient of the Southern Conference's David Knight Scholarship. Riegel has competed for both the Bulldogs' women's soccer and track and field teams, earning SoCon All-Freshman honors on both teams before becoming a two-time SoCon champion in the javelin, setting and then breaking the school record in the event each year of her career so far. Recipients of the David Knight Scholarship are nominated by their schools and selected by the Southern Conference Graduate Scholar Committee. The scholarships, worth $2,000 each, are awarded to student-athletes about to receive their undergraduate degrees who intend to pursue advanced degrees in graduate or professional school.

The Office of the Commandant has announced the rising leadership in the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Annually, rising leadership is announced for the top nine student officers as well as battalion sergeant majors, company commanders and company first sergeants.

Cadet Matthew Miller was one of 59 students selected from 756 candidates across the country for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship.

Citadel cadets Gabriel Massey and Edward Whelan will begin working with Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young following their graduation from The Citadel in May.

Citadel Cadet Randolph Solomon received a full-time employment offer from Sonoco. After graduating from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration this May, Solomon will begin working as a commercial financial analyst at Sonoco's corporate headquarters.

Citadel cadet Samuel Rice received an employment offer from Parkdale Mills. fter graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration this May, Rice will begin working at the company's plant in Rabun Gap, Georgia.

Citadel Cadet John Casey received a full-time employment offer from Prysmian Group.

Junior Katherine Walker attended the Global Engagement Summit at the United Nations on Feb. 23 in New York.

Citadel Cadet Cagney Irving has secured a summer internship with Adidas. Her internship will be in social purpose marketing. Irving is a junior majoring in sport management through The Citadel Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science. She was selected as one of 11 interns from more than 1,000 applicants.

More than 80 men and women from the Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in the South Carolina Corps of Cadets are being recognized for their academic and military leadership and excellence.

Cadets participated in the final round of The Citadel's eighth annual Henry Dale Smith Corps-Wide Speaking Competition on March 27.

Sixty-one cadets were selected to the Class of 2019 Summerall Guards. Earning a position to the platoon is amonth the highest honors a member of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets can attain.

Cadet Col. George Dillon Graham was the 2018 recipient of the Palmetto Award, one of the highest awards presented by The Citadel.

Students were recognized for their academic accomplishments at The Citadel Academy of Science and Mathematics Awards Banquet on March 22.

Citadel cadets spent part of their Spring Furlough on a four-day trip to Orangeburg, South Carolina; Greensboro, North Carolina; and Washington D.C. to visit historical sites, museums and colleges important to the Civil Rights Movement.

Nine cadets in The Citadel Cyber Defense Team competed in the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Contest Feb. 24.

The Society of the Cincinnati of the State of South Carolina presented Cadet Lt. Col. John Cordes with the 2018 Citadel Medal.

Ten members of The Citadel Ethics Team traveled to Chicago March 3-4 for the 2018 Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl.
