Gold stars were awarded to cadets and students at The Citadel who achieved a 3.7 grade point average or higher in the fall 2018 semester. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's dean's list.

Two cadets and two students represented The Citadel's Swain Department of Nursing at the South Carolina Student Nurses Convention. Three of those from The Citadel were also elected to serve on the board of the association.

The dean's list is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

The President's List is one of the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. The list is a combination of the dean's list and the Commandant's Distinguished List and is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies while maintaining excellent military and academic records.

Cadets of The Citadel Class of 2019 received their rings on Friday, Oct. 12. The Citadel ring, known as the band of gold, symbolizes more than just a cadet's time spent as a member of The South Carolina Corps of Cadets or their time in the classroom. It symbolizes the military college's core values of honor, duty and respect; the same values Citadel cadets take with them to positions of leadership and service around the world after they graduate.

Sarah Dobrich has been named the Southern Conference defensive player of the week after The Citadel volleyball team closed out the week with three victories, two of which came in conference play.

The Citadel officially welcomes the Class of 2022. Of the incoming class of 837 new cadet recruits and students, 80 are Hispanic and 87 are women.

After sparking a comeback effort from The Citadel Bulldogs in their game against Wofford, senior linebacker Noah Dawkins was selected as the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Five members of The Citadel football team have been selected to the 2018 Preseason All-Southern Conference teams. The teams were selected by the league's head coaches and announced Wednesday, July 25.

The Citadel was represented by 163 cadet-athletes on the 2017-18 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. The Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes at member institutions who achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for the academic year while being a member of the final squad list during their sport's traditional season. Recipients must have been eligible to compete throughout the entire academic year.

More than 50 Citadel cadets were initiated into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society for the fall 2017 semester.

Citadel Cadet James Jennings has secured a summer internship with Hill Construction. Jennings is a rising junior majoring in construction engineering, a new degree path through The Citadel School of Engineering.

Citadel junior Rhaei Brown has secured a summer internship with Mediterranean Shipping Company in Charleston. Brown is a junior in business administration through the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.

Citadel Cadet Bryan Santana has secured a position as camp counselor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Santana is a junior in exercise science.

Citadel Cadet Douglas Charlie Hatler has secured a summer internship with Aerotek. Hatler is a senior majoring in business administration and Spanish.

ROTC programs produce almost 70 percent of the officers that enter the Army each year, and more than 100 of them will come from The Citadel in 2018. Cadets joining the Army upon graduation at The Citadel took their commissioning oath on Friday, May 4 in McAlister Field House. The Citadel Graduate College (CGC) celebrated student excellence in areas of academics, leadership and service during the annual CGC Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 3. Eighteen awards were presented during the ceremony to CGC faculty and graduate, evening undergraduate and veteran students.

Commencement season at The Citadel is a time to celebrate student achievements in academics, leadership and service. At the South Carolina Corps of Cadets Awards Convocation Thursday, May 3, 50 awards were presented to cadets and active duty students in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.

Joseph Wendling has been named the South Carolina Corps of Cadets best-drilled cadet. Wendling, who is from Fairhope, Alabama, went up against more than 40 cadets for the title during The Citadel's Star of the West competition Wednesday, May 5. The competition, which began at The Citadel in 1886, is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates the precision required in military maneuvers and leadership positions in general. As best-drilled cadet, Wendling will have his name engraved on the Star of the West monument on Summerall Field. The monument was raised in 1961, 100 years after Citadel cadets fired upon the Star of the West ship in the Civil War. Inscribed on the monument are all Star of the West competition winners. Wendling will also be awarded the Star of the West medal, which contains wood from the old ship, during the South Carolina Corps of Cadets Awards Convocation on Thursday, May 3.
