The President's List is one of the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. It indicates excellence in academics and military duties. The list is a combination of the Dean's List and the Commandant's Distinguished List and is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies while maintaining excellent military and academic records.

Over 20 cadets from majors across The Citadel's campus came together to compete for the title of 2016 Math Jeopardy Champions.

The Citadel linebacker Myles Pierce has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Oct. 19-25.

The Citadel's Kailik Williams has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday, October 24.

The Commandant's Cup is awarded to the company earning the highest points for parade and squad drill performance. The award was established by Lt. Col. William C. Miller, commandant from 1926-31.

The Citadel wrestling team welcomes 10 newcomers to the preseason of the 2016-17 wrestling season, announced by head coach Rob Hjerling.

The Milton A. Pearlstine Award is presented annually by The Citadel Alumni Association (CAA) in honor of Milton A. Pearlstine, Citadel Class of 1919 and past president of the CAA, to the cadet company achieving the highest freshman class grade point ratio for the previous school year.

The Summerall Cup, named for The Citadel's president from 1931-53, is donated by the European Citadel Association. It is awarded annually to the cadet company with the best overall academic achievement.

The President's Cup was established by General Hugh P. Harris, president of The Citadel from 1965-70. It is awarded annually to the cadet company that establishes the highest combined score in academic achievement, military performance, extracurricular participation and fourth class retention.

The Citadel officially welcomes the Class of 2020. The incoming class of over 800 new cadets and students represents 36 states and seven foreign countries.

The Citadel Graduate College officially welcomes new enrollees for the fall 2016 semester.

James Jenkins spent his summer between graduation and reporting to Quantico for Marine training in Vietnam, volunteering at three different orphanages in Saigon. James did his research and volunteered through an organization called International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) which facilitates volunteer opportunities worldwide. "I had a really incredible experience in South East Asia. Vietnam is completely different than anything I've ever experienced and I learned so much. Having the privilege to work with hundreds of children in orphanages around the city was very moving. And being in a third world country for an extended period of time really changes you in a good way, something everyone should do at least once in their life. I learned a lot about humility and to really appreciate all I have."

Cadet Chris Woods was recognized by the Chatham, Massachusetts Harbormaster for his outstanding work during the summer of 2016.

The Citadel football B-Back Tyler Renew is on the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Player of the Year Trophy Watch List.

Citadel cadet and midshipman competes for 2016 Ship-Handler of the Year

Donald (Donnie) Chestnut started as an AmeriCorps VISTA on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 in the Krause Center for Leadership & Ethics. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program. The one year commitment comes with a modest living allowance (less than minimum wage) and an education award at the end of the service year which can be applied towards undergraduate student loans or further higher education costs. Chestnut will be focusing on two areas in his year with the Krause Center. The two areas include education, particularly with K-12 Title I schools, and veterans through support and volunteer management for various veteran initiatives.

Citadel cadet, Robert Wiegand, U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, attended a three-week culture, understanding and language proficiency course with Djiboutian Army cadets in Djibouti, Africa from July 16 to Aug. 6, 2016.

Cadets Richie Parra and Jeffrey (Bo) Cain participated in a week long camp, Camp Happy Days, a camp for children with pediatric cancer and their siblings. Both cadets spent all waking hours engrossed in activities such as early morning polar bear swims, fishing, climbing walls, crafts and even a prom. While both cadets were part of The Citadel's Summer SUCCEED program, they chose to participate at this camp which was an unpaid week of around the clock volunteering. The camp ran from July 2 to July 9, 2016.

Head coach Ciaran Traquair selected Tinslee Dilday, Ilana Green and Montana Hinson as captains for the 2016 season.

Cadet Joshua Bowman completes internship for Congressman Joe Wilson. As an intern, Bowman gained valuable experience working in Washington, D.C., where he attended committee hearings, led tours, assisted the office staff and conducted research for the legislative assistants.

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a national award that honors inspiring college student leaders who have demonstrated an investment in finding solutions for challenges facing communities throughout the country.

Dean's List is a recognition given to students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, honored the following students with Gold Stars for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2015-2016 academic year. Gold Stars are awarded to students that achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Students that achieve Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's Dean's List.
